Blue Ocean Development are proud to be an American company, rooted in the free market principles that protect the right of builders and buyers to partner in innovations that push the boundaries of clean, sustainable building projects. But without the liberty claimed by our armed forces both now and in the past, we would not be able to pursue this important work.
Our gratitude for this freedom has led to us to give back to our veterans whenever we have an opportunity, partnering with several great organizations that identify veterans in need and raise funds to care for them and for their families.
One such partner is Operation Finally Home, with whom Blue Ocean founder Gene Frogale recently finished a brand new home in Culpepper, VA. Operation Finally Home seeks out developers, architects, builders, suppliers, and craftsmen around the country who are willing to donate or significantly discount their materials and services to build homes for wounded veterans or widows of the fallen. Once these teams have been assembled, the project leaders (also volunteers) go to work raising whatever extra funds are necessary from among community leaders in the area. Paramount among the goals of this project are that the veteran and their family bear no cost - when they step into their new home, it is mortgage free, a gift from grateful fellow Americans.
Our extensive experience with component building systems has made us an ideal partner for Operation Finally Home - not only are we experts at streamlining builds and maximizing the value of each dollar, but we’re also able to present a comprehensive building strategy, in which every essential system, from plumbing and electrical to HVAC, is seamlessly integrated into the project guidelines, making partnership with other building crews low stress and efficient.
On June 30th, in company with Operation Finally Home and with Graystone Homes, we had the distinct privilege of welcoming T.J. Brennan and his family into their brand new home. U.S. Marine Sergeant and nine year veteran of two tours, Thomas James “T.J.” Brennan suffered a traumatic brain injury during his deployment to Afghanistan. This injury, in addition to numerous other wounds suffered over the course of his career, led to his medical discharge in 2012. He was decorated with the Purple Heart, Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal with Combat “V”, as well as numerous combat ribbons and other commendations.
Since his retirement, Brennan has achieved a graduate degree, and put his talents and experience to use as a journalist. Brennan and his family are heavily involved with public education about America’s continued military involvement overseas through his nonprofit newsroom, The War Horse, where T.J. continues in brotherhood with his fellow soldiers by telling their stories to the world.
We were honored to be a part of giving T.J. and his family a firm foundation from which to engage their community for the rest of their lives, and we look forward to continuing in partnership with Operation Finally Home.
